I Recommend Pleasant
I have had so much going on lately I have not had time to post much. I have 2 trips coming up in July along with my birthday, but I had to post this while it was on my mind.
I love old movies and TCM is one of my favorite channels. The other night, "Harvey" was on. That is the old Jimmy Stuart movie about an invisible 6'3" white rabbit. Really it is about Stuart's character and his approach to life.
Everyone thinks he is crazy but as the movie goes on and people, even doctors, spend time with him, they start to wonder if seeing this rabbit, is really that bad. Stuart seems to have an uplifting and calming effect over everyone he meets and even helps people to realize their dreams and do what makes them happy. He talks about how he is able to affect people's lives in a positive way by introducing them to Harvey.
Every time I see this movie I get goosebumps and this time I finally ordered it for my collection, but there is a quote in the movie that I LOVE!! I wanted to leave you all with it because it is very simple but oh so true.
"In this world, you must be oh-so-smart or oh-so-pleasant. For years I was smart. I recommend pleasant."
While being smart may get you far, being pleasant will open doors that you can't even imagine. There are a lot of things that people take for granted. Some of the things that make the biggest impact and give us the greatest results, go undone because they are so simple to do, that they are simple not to do. So try doing the simple thing and be pleasant. After all....isn't life complicated enough?
